Are we involved in the design process & how can we work with you to get the most out of the experience?

Design projects are very much a collaborative process between us and you as our client.  The ‘getting to know you’ phase at the start of the project allows us to understand your needs and your lifestyle.  We ask a lot of questions and discuss in depth your requirements for each space.  Our goal is to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible. 
While working together, we build a partnership with you & establish a trust.  When you allow us to complete creative rights, we are able to curate a truly beautiful & functioning space that is distinctly you. We ask that you kindly allow us to do what we do best - :source all items you’ve requested our assistance in finding and let us present to you so you can see the entire vision for your space. One small change in a fabric, piece of artwork or area rug can compromise the entire project. Relax and let us do what we do best. :)

When can I contact you during a project?

We hold normal office hours 9:30-4:30 on weekdays. You may reach us at any time during normal hours via email, or phone. We typically return calls within a few hours during normal business hours. Texts are only used during office hours to ask or answer timely concerns. All communication received outside of normal business hours will be answered during the week 9:30-4:30pm.

What happens if problems arise?

Amelia Fiduccia Design is well connected in the local design scene. We specifically work with tradespeople and vendors that we have strong relationships with so we can offer the best in customer service.
We are solution-driven and even though unforeseen challenges will come up, we make it a top priority to solve them quickly and to your satisfaction.

How much will it cost to hire your services for a project?

As each client and every project is different, so is the need for design services. On average, expect to invest 15% -20% of the overall cost of the project on design services. For example, if the cost of the project is estimated at $25,000, design services could range between- $2500 - $5000. This often depends on how much detail is involved in the project & how much time in it takes you to make decisions on final selections. It is also important to understand that each change or revision may affect other aspects of the design, which in turn could increase the time needed to spend ensuring the overall plans are not compromised.

Can you tell me about billing?

All consultations are paid prior to the consultation appointment

For design packages, we collect

a retainer equal to 

50% of the design service package,

another 40% is collected five days prior to the design presentation,

and the remaining 10% collected after final revisions are completed

For hourly services, we charge $125 p/hour, billed at the end of each month.

What does "to the trade" mean?

Vendors that state that they are "to the trade only" mean that they only sell to designers, and others in the design industry. 

The furniture is more customizable, better quality, and more unique. 

The short answer: "trade" furniture is usually a much better quality than your retail "big box stores" and online vendors. However, often (but not always) it is competitive in price points thanks to our designer pricing that we share with you. Retailers that sell "to the trade" items to a retail consumer can not offer the same discount that a designer receives.

Even the highest quality from "expensive" box stores fall short of the quality found in "trade" items. 

Do you get trade discounts & if so, do you pass these on to us?

Depending on where an item is sourced from, you may benefit from the discounts we receive from suppliers & retailers.  Where the discount is greater is greater than 25%, Amelia Fiduccia Design shares our discounts with clients. Will will work very hard to offer you competitive pricing that is at or below retail on most items.

If you prefer to purchase select items at retail yourself, that is okay, however all ordering, coordinating, and ship/delivery details will not be handled by AFD.

It is important to note that every supplier is different in regards to their terms as well as the percentage they offer.  NOTE: We find that the cost of design services is often offset by the savings you receive from our Designer Discounts.

My lifestyle is messy, ie, kids and pets, do I really need an expensive sofa?

A less expensive sofa is less expensive for a reason. Lower quality materials, inferior foam (that smell when you open an item from a box store are toxic chemicals you do not want near your family), and a shorter warranty. It might be less expensive now, but it could need replacing sooner which will add to the bottom line.

A high-quality sofa can last 10+ years, and be reupholstered to keep it looking new if needed.
